Forever In Our Hearts
While rescuing and saving animals' lives is an immensely rewarding job, it also involves heartbreak. Sometimes, no matter what we do, we just can't save an animal. At All Paws, we strive to honor the lives of all animals, and have included this page to pay tribute to the ones that we've lost. Below are the animals that All Paws has had the privilege of knowing and helping, whose time on this Earth has come to an end. Rest in Peace to all of the sweet, beautiful animals that have touched our lives. See you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Phineas was born in foster care along with his 4 siblings to mama Clove who was rescued from the outdoors by Catherine Dayco-Hatch. Catherine fostered them all and each found their forever homes but Phineas remained with us because it was discovered that he had a serious heart condition. His foster mama knew from the very beginning that something was different about Phineas. He didn't fight to latch on for feedings like his siblings so she bottle fed him. At the kittens first checkup, it was discovered that he had a fairly serious heart murmur so we got a referral to OVC for a cardiologist appointment. At that appointment, we learned that Phineas had a very serious heart condition that was not treatable. They thought he wouldn't live more than a year but Phineas proved them wrong.
Watching Phineas grow and play, you wouldn't know that anything was wrong with him. He loved to play with the other cats in his foster home including his brother Parker and never showed any sign of illness. He was a very happy boy. At his last check up in October, the doctors couldn't believe that he was still running around and playing like a kitten at over 2 years old. But Phineas' time finally ran out this week. His new foster Mila noticed he was labouring to breathe so she rushed him to emergency. Even though we were told to expect this to happen at some point, we still weren't ready. The emergency Doctor told us that Phineas had congestive heart failure and that his heart was so enlarged it could barely contract. We could not let him suffer and knew that it was time to help him across the Rainbow bridge. With Phineas cuddled in my arms I told him how much he was loved and that he would be free soon to run and play like he loved to do. Thank you to his foster mama Catherine for loving him for the first 2 years of his life and more recently to Mila Kevorkova who we thought would have more time getting to know him. Run free sweet Phineas |
We are heartbroken to share that Maximus has crossed the rainbow bridge
Maximus came into the rescue 4 years ago in really rough shape after being rescued in Belleville. Maximus was also FIV+ and we knew our extraordinary foster Kim Martin would take him in and nurse him back to health. As most of you know Kim is a fierce advocate for FIV kitties and teaching people that these babies are not to be feared, that they deserve to be loved and can live with other kitties. Kim is always the first to reach out to take in FIV kitties when they come into the rescue. Maximus dealt with many medical setbacks over the last 4 years, but miraculously beat the odds. However over the last couple of weeks his health steadily declined. Yesterday with his mama holding him he passed surrounded by all of her love. Maximus we know you had an incredible life with your mama and your pack, a life that most kitties dream of having. We only wish it could have been longer, but we know you felt nothing but love and happiness. Kim we know that loving him changed your life, and losing him did the same. How it aches to know that when you said your last goodbye, a piece of your heart died inside. You have suffered so many losses, and we are all here to support you. We can't thank you enough for sacrificing your heart so that so many of your kitties could have a home that they deserved filled with love, and for teaching people that FIV kitties are worthy of love and a home. We would also like to thank Darleen Carty for sponsfuring Max's medical care. Your generosity and genuine love are gifts that we truly are grateful for. Maximus, we know you're no longer in pain and your broken body is whole again. Run and play with the angels sweet boy |
We are heartbroken to share that our sweet Tyler has crossed the rainbow bridge
Tyle came into the rescue in 2017. He was another one of our special FIV babies. Tyler was blessed to have been loved by 2 different fosters. Paulina Sajdak was his first mama, he finally felt love for the first time, and enjoyed snuggles with her. Paulina thank you for showing him love and caring for him. Tyler found love for the second time with his foster papa Christopher Cook. He thrived in Christopher's care and was so loved. He finally found his home filled with love and happiness. Tyler needed 10 tooth extractions earlier this year and recovered well. In late December He was taken to the vet for bloodwork and was going to have an ultrasound because they suspected he might have cancer. It was confirmed at the emergency vet that he had a mass in his stomach and he was declining so rapidly, not able to stand on his own anymore. A gut wrenching decision was made to let Tyler go. His devastated papa Christopher held him and assured him he was loved as Tyler passed. Christopher our hearts ache for your loss. We are so grateful that you loved Tyler until his last breath. Tyler you were so loved, play amongst the angels sweet boy |
The hard times in rescue never fail and although we experience so much happiness we also endure so much pain. Sweet lion has been with us for quite some time and has been sick for a little while. The vets have been caring for him as he needed to be monitored and they gave him so much love while he was there. Lion went down hill a few days ago and today was the day we had to say goodbye. Lion we love you and were so sorry this happened. A big thank you to the cat hospital for caring so much and for always being there for him. Rest peacefully in kitty heaven.
Sweet Leela came to us as a surrender as her owners noticed that she wasn't well and could not afford to take her to the vet. Leela came to us very ill and she required a lot of medical tests to find out what was going on with her. Turns out sweet Leela has Lymphoma and her lungs were filled with fluid. She was struggling to breathe and we had to make a hard decision, but the best one for her. We laid her to sleep at the vet peacefully and we did all we could to save her. Rest in peace sweet girl |
Well it's with a heavy heart having to write this message, but although it's tough...we are so are grateful beans didn't die alone. Beans came to us from the outdoors and was badly attacked by an animal. Wounds, blood and sores everywhere. He has leukemia and FIV and his immune system was so weak that he couldn't fight them off. Beans was a fighter and tried to hang on but last night he took his final breath. We recieved a call later last night that euthanasia is the best option for him as he was suffering and his body was shutting down. His white, red blood cells were extremely low as well as his platelets. He couldn't fight anymore so we decided the best thing for him was to go. These decisions kill me...they really do but the one thing I hang on to is thinking about how much more suffering he would of endured of he was outside alone. He would of been terrified but now he knows what love was. What it felt like to now have to fight for food or shelter. We did everything we could and we want to send a huge thank you out to the cat hospital in Brampton for doing everything for him. We love you beans, say hello to the other beauties we have lost in kitty heaven. Thank you to everyone that donated towards his care, we appreciate it so much.

How do I type this while I sit at my desk with tears in my eyes....
The pain that comes with these posts is unbearable and it never gets easier. The hard part is losing something that has changed our lives so drastically, something that has truly enriched our hearts and souls. The reason we work so hard day in an day out is to save the lives of gentle sweet babies just like Cougie. Cougie is such a special girl and she literally has given me the hope to continue saving lives with you all. She has brightened many of our days with the cute videos and photos her foster family shares with us, she has lifted up our spirits when we were down and touched us so deeply. Although it may be time to let her go, this decision will be the HARDEST one so far. Why can't the things we love last forever? Why can't we just have her longer so that she can spend Christmas with us? It isn't fair....life isn't but Cougie is telling us she is ready to go and we need to end her pain and suffering. Her body is shutting down and although we want to hold on forever, we have to be selfless and do whats best for her. This will be tough for Cougies foster family the most as they have cared for her and made her apart of their family Our hearts go out to them and we cannot thank them enough for never giving up on her and for loving her as much as they do. Sharon Strickland Godzik Emily Barlow Justin GodzikNatasha. We are so grateful to have all of you and your support in these difficult times.Lets all come together and make a donation in Cougies name so we can continue to save lives just like hers. Cougie may physically leave us, but her presence and love will be with us forever. Cougie, my love I wish you had more time with us, I hope you know we care, Its time for you to leave this world, such special times we shared, You sparked a bright light in my heart, one that will never leave I hope you find us in your heart, because were there, you'll see We love you Cougie xo0000000000 |
Our Minnie lost her battle with cancer. She was such a trooper right until the end. At her check up today, it was decided that it was time for Minnie to rest...her condition had deteriorated and keeping her going just wasn’t the humane thing to do. It was like she knew and was very calm and accepting. She was even purring for us almost as if to tell us it was okay. Minnie, you were a joy to foster, I loved our chats in the evening and I know you enjoyed them just as much. Mazda and I will miss you, our hearts are empty tonight. Rest easy dear girl, pain free and running with your other feline friends. Special thanks to Sandy Silva who turned her car around and came back to TCH to support us through this. She knew she was loved right until the end

Sweet peewee
This post is difficult to share as our hearts are broken and we are so saddened by his loss. Sweet peewee has crossed the rainbow bridge:( he left this world knowing what true love was, what having a family was like and what it felt like to have a full belly and a warm bed to sleep in at night. His foster family is devestated and we hope that they can find comfort in knowing we are all here for them. Thank you so much Pat for loving little Peewee and for being a wonderful kitty mama. Rest in peace sweet boy xo we are so sorry. |
Missy
My heart is filled with sadness right now :*( our sweet girl Missy has crossed the rainbow bridge and passed away at the vet clinic. This 15 year old senior girl was surrendered to the rescue and we were so excited to give her a second chance at life. She stopped responding to her medication for her skin disease and had a really high fever last night. I'm so sorry baby girl, we tried everything we could for you and rest peacefully. Thank you to every one that donated towards her medical bills and to her foster papa for taking such good care of her. A big special thanks to our rescue vet The Cat Hospital for taking her into your care and helping her. |
CALLEN
Our sweet boy Callen was rescued off the streets a year ago and was brought into foster care. We assumed he was a house cat once upon a time because he was quite friendly, but could tell he has been on the streets for a while as he had battle wounds all over his body, poor guy. Sure enough he tested positive for FIV and we knew his chances of being adopted were cut in half because of it. Callen is SUCH a sweet boy and touched the hearts of everyone he met, with his beautiful eyes and soft heart. Callen has taken a turn for the worse this week, has stopped eating, had seizures today and is going through possible heart failure. His foster mama will be with him when we say goodbye, and we are grateful for everything she did for Callen. We love you sweet guy :( |
GRANDPA
Our hearts are broken today, after receiving terrible news about two of our rescue kitties. Orange boy Grandpa in the photo above was surrendered to the rescue after being with his owners for 15 years! This broke my heart, since this was all Grandpa knew, but we found the most AMAZING foster home for him and he spent the rest of his days being happy and showing his foster mama appreciation on a daily basis with kisses and snuggles. Grandpa had kidney failure and went down hill very fast. Unfortunately we had to say our goodbyes and let him rest in peace without suffering. Thank you to our amazing team for saving this sweet guy, and for giving him a second chance to love and be happy again. Rest in Peace big boy xo |
LITTLE GRACEY
Little Gracey was surrendered to the rescue with her mama Boo and two siblings. She was the smallest out of the bunch and seemed to be going downhill :( She was losing weight, not eating much, and was lethargic. Little gracey left us last night. Her little body could not handle it, she is resting now in kitty heaven and is not suffering anymore. So thankful for the amazing team we have! Graceys foster mama gave her so much love, and the vets did everything they could for this little one. Rest in Peace sweet girl, we love you! |
TILLEY BUG
This morning I had to make a tough decision with Tilly bug at the emergency vet. Our sweet Tilley had a very low temperature, slow heart beat, was severely dehydrated, had fluid in her belly and her tongue was not right either. The vet said that they think it is FIP, and Tilleys rescue vet thought the same thing when she lost her eyesight. We were with her until the end, we also had Laurie Cowan her foster mama on speaker phone so Tilley would know we were all by her side. Tilley had a rough life but I am positive that our sweet Tilley bug knew we all loved her and her babies so much. We all came together to give her the best life she could possibly have. We will miss you so much sweet girl and you will be in our hearts forever. Thank you Sandy Hodge-Zbarsky for giving her a forever home and for being so wonderful to her. You gave her a chance and she loves you for that. I could see it in her eyes. Xo Rest peacefully little Tilley bug. |
